Painting is an essential part of my life and I spend every spare moment in my studio creating.  My inspiration is driven by wildlife and nature and so I paint any creature that catches my imagination.

Ashling McNamara

My practice is based on the excitement of suggested mark-making in paint. Letting the paint speak and form an instinctive direction. Currently I’m making semi-abstract ‘treescapes’ loosely based on Hampshire’s extensive woodlands and forests. They are more about experiencing nature than reality.  Being in a wood, off the beaten path is a quick escape from the modern world, physically, mentally and spiritually.
